about me

I am currently employed at the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, Maryland as a Computer Scientist in the Hardy-Apfel IT Fellows program, a rotational leadership and development program with a focus on information technology. Duties include rotations in various components, research and design, and agency and component level strategic vision and planning.

In May of 2010, I received my Masters of Engineering in Computer Science from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where I also completed my undergraduate studies, majoring in Computer Science and Government (2009). I studied abroad in Berlin at the Freie Universität and Humbolt University in 2008, focusing on political science. My CS research and coursework has focused on highly distributed systems, system security, web information systems and operating systems.

On campus and off, I was heavily involved in politics, as a member of the Cornell Democrats' and College Democrats of New York's executive boards and as a volunteer and intern for various policians and campaigns. Several of my CS projects have had a political tinge, including my work on the first cohersion-resistant electronic voting system and research on the changing nature of the GOV tld.

I also serve as Vice President and CIO of iWebPress, Inc., a small software startup launched in 2005 that develops workflow and content management solutions for small and medium size education and community publications.

In my spare time, I try my hand at graphic design and journalism, and, naturally, try to keep up to date on the world of politics. I have grown to love reading everything from the classics to modern lit and enjoy listening to far too much music and watching far too many movies. I love traveling around the world, skiing, and playing with new technologies. At some point, I'd like to learn how to surf properly, get my pilot license/certification, and start playing music again.

about this site

This site was thrown together several years ago, so some of the information (e.g. my portfolio) is badly outdated. I coded my own - now ancient - JS animation library, which really should be replaced as others have done a better job. I've tried to adhere to web standards as much as possible, but it wouldn't surprise me if the page no longer passed the W3C validator.
